Seven Girls. One Opportunity. A Championship Run.
Lexington East Elite continues to prove that development is about more than wins and losses—it’s about putting young athletes in challenging environments and watching them rise to the occasion.
Seven of our girls traveled to Grove City to compete in the Pop The Flag Flag Football Tournament, representing East Elite against talented teams from across the region and beyond.
This team was built with a unique mix of experience and youth: four 14-year-old girls and three upperclass girls. For our younger athletes, it was an opportunity to compete against older, more experienced players and learn what it takes to play at a higher level.
Kendall Earns Combine MVP
The weekend got even better when Kendall was named MVP of the flag football combine, recognizing her individual performance among talented athletes competing at the event.
2–1 in Pool Play
East Elite opened tournament play with two victories in pool play.
Our only loss came against a highly experienced team featuring seasoned players from the region, Canada, and Hawaii. Rather than backing down, our girls used the experience as an opportunity to learn, adjust, and prepare for another opportunity to compete.
And that opportunity came Sunday.
BACK TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP
East Elite defeated a team from the Middle Tennessee area to advance to the championship game.
Waiting for us was the same experienced team that had defeated us in pool play.
This time, the girls knew exactly what they were facing—and they showed how much they had grown.
East Elite played a tremendous championship game and battled until the final whistle, ultimately falling 12–6.
12–6 — BUT FAR FROM A LOSS
The scoreboard may have said 12–6, but the weekend told a much bigger story.
Seven Lexington East Elite girls competed against experienced athletes from different regions and backgrounds. Four of those seven players were only 14 years old. They won games. They battled through adversity. They reached a championship game. And they came within one score of a team that had already beaten them.
Most importantly, they improved.
That is what Lexington East Elite is about.
We aren't simply building teams to win today. We're developing girls who can compete tomorrow.
Every tournament. Every game. Every challenge.
We get better.
THE EAST ELITE JOURNEY CONTINUES
The Pop The Flag tournament was another milestone in the growth of Lexington East Elite and our girls' flag football program.
A championship would have been great but they didn’t just show up to compete—they showed they belong... responding to adversity, growing as players, and defying the odds.
